Elizabeth B. Alwais, or "Liz" as her clients like to call her, graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX with a BA Psychology in 1996 and completed her MA in Counseling at Amberton University in Dallas in 2004 and is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas.

Liz worked in the Psychiatry unit at Children's Medical Center of Dallas as a milieu therapist and became a training lead for five years. She was offered a position at UTSW Psychiatric Research department in Dallas for 5 years in Child and Adult psychiatry due to her outstanding working relationship with the physicians assigned to her unit. As a psychological associate she perfected how to make accurate psychiatric diagnosis.

Liz was given the opportunity to do counseling in the addiction field at Grapevine Valley Hope and jumped at the chance to extend her clinical skills. Shortly after though her husband was given a position in Austin closer to friends and family so she made her move back to Central Texas.

In San Marcos, Liz worked for the Hays Caldwell Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse running the adolescent treatment program. She provided individual, group and family therapy to teens and their families who have substance abuse and psychiatric problems.

Currently Liz also provides individual, group, family and relationship counseling at Retrospective Solutions in Austin. Liz has completed both level one and level two Gottman Relationship Counseling Certification to be trained to utilize research tested couples counseling techniques. John Gottman, MD is a world renowned relationship researcher and theorist who has written 10 books on the subject of healthy relationships.
